Ephemera

Lost and found priests’ photos

This collection is the work of a dedicated old photograph dealer whose mission is to use Facebook postings to trace the individuals behind old photos he has obtained in his old paper trading in Izmir and this set comes mostly from a single set roughly dated the 1960s and based in Izmir, possibly coinciding with the visit of an overseas Catholic priests grouping who took souvenir photographs. Hopefully some names will be identified, helped possibly cross-correlating with our existing gallery created by sharing through the Izmir Levantine community. Grateful for the permission to share by this gentleman and he hopes some names will be identified in due process.

Inscription on reverse showing it is from 1934 but city or institution not indicated.

Photo dated 12 May 1950. Miss Olive Greene was an American woman who worked as an English teacher and principal at the Izmir American Girls’ College in the 1940s.
