The stocky stone building was once the Belgian company tram company’s depot on Mithatpaşa Caddesi, no: 138, Karataş, and was later used as the domestic electric meters repair shop, restored in 2002, and now is used as a cultural centre ‘Akademi Iksev’. The rendering on the side of the building is an unfortunate ‘improvement’ done in this restoration. The Belgian company ran along Konak to Göztepe, while the French company line ran from Darağaç to Konak, whose depot was at Darağaç.
