The current stage of the ongoing research on the Churchill family in the Levant
Note: De Balzac family according to the researcher Behzat Üskiden [Avrupalı mı, Levanten mi? p.99] were Bankers in Pera, Constantinople. A Leontine de Balzac married Charles Helbig who was born in 1822 in Liege in Belgium and whose descendants would continue his ‘Helbig & Cie’ banking interests in Constantinople and became very prosperous with many buildings to their name. From the similar dates it is likely Leontine and Eveline were sisters.

Note: Abraham Arlaud’s father Antoine was also an immigrant being born in France 1590 moving to Switzerland ~1617 (religious persecution? just before the 30 years war).
