The Boddington family note book (retained at the Guildhall library in London), penned by Benjamin Boddington, started by him aged 16 in 1708, going back in time to his grandfather George early 17th century and at least one of his sons was involved in the Levant trade as he died in Aleppo. Benjamin’s brother George (page 12) was the Levant merchant in Turkey and it is probable his brother Isaac was also involved in the Levant trade as he is recorded as having travelled there.
